For the animals in the polar regions, fall means dramatic battles and epic journeys. Time is running loudly - the Arctic Ocean is freezing outer and the sea ice is advancing at 2.5 miles by day around Antarctica. Polar bears cull in large numbers on the Arctic seaboard as they wait for the return of the ice. Soon, tempers riot and violent sparring contests break ~right. Meanwhile 2,000 beluga whales acme for one special estuary, a cyclopean 'whale spa' where they will beat their snow-white bodies against the small pebbles and exfoliate. Inland, the tundra undergoes a dramatic change from green to fiery red. Here, musk ox males shut with noise head-first into each other through the force of a 30mph car dash in pieces as they struggle to defend their harems. Frisky young caribou males play a game of 'grandma's example' as they try to steal the protuberant part's female.
